This morning I'm reading Mark Edmundson's essay "The Corporate City," which is a fantastic critique of the corporate values that rule most universities. There's an adapted version of this essay on the Atlantic.

Online courses are particularly poorly suited to replicate the best, most important parts of a liberal arts education: long papers on complex topics, graded by a human being, and intense discussion of ideas.
